Services
...GUIDING the PROCESS
Services provided through Laguna College Counseling include:
INDIVIDUALIZING the JOURNEY
Although this process is all about the student, it is important that our time together meets the needs of both the student and the family. Intake surveys and initial meetings will allow us to make a plan together for my services that works with your unique family dynamic and expectations to assist the student in owning the process and finding the best college fit.
ANALYZING the PROGRESS
Review of current transcripts, high school coursework, and four year plan. Documenting all in school, extra-curricular, work, and summer activities as well as making suggestions for new and continued activity in these areas.
UNDERSTANDING the INDIVIDUAL
This is a time for a student to begin the process of being both introspective and forward thinking. It can be scary! Options for personality inventories, career assessments, and other exercises to help the student find answers to questions that will help them find the right college.
ORGANIZING the PATH
A calendar of benchmarks and deadlines is essential to keeping the student on task and avoid becoming overwhelmed. Students will be expected to use the provided organizational tool, online communications between face-to- face meetings, and to come to appointments prepared. Planning will include Testing schedule, coursework, applications, activities.
EXPANDING the HORIZONS
Arguably the most important part of the process: the college search, and coming up with a working college list that fits the student.
PRESENTING the PACKAGE
In the final year, this includes submitting strong and timely applications, clean and relevant essay, advice on touring colleges, teacher recommendations, interviewing.
CALMING the MADNESS
This should be exciting time in a young person's life. Although some anxiety is expected, the overall experience should be a positive one.
We hope to provide a mentoring relationship that provides encouragement and motivation to stay on track.
Our ideal would be to have the privilege of working with the individual student for all of their Junior and Senior years (begins Spring of Sophomore year). It's never too early or late to start; please contact us to talk about options.
Review our Packages and Fees
Laguna College Counseling is not in the business of extended test-prep, tutoring or financial advice, but some resources and advice in these areas is provided. LCC will work with students and parents in a way that respects the integrity of both the student and consultant.
